view.live is a real-time mobility and safety platform. It combines information from many data sources into a single, live picture of how people and vehicles move through city streets, and it does this anonymously, without identifying anyone.

What view.live does

  • Combines many data sources. Roadside sensors, traffic signals, incidents, events, weather, and other city feeds come together in one view of the street network.
  • Anonymous by design. view.live works with object positions, types, and movement, not identities. No faces, no license plates.
  • Built for mobility and safety. Live and historical views help partners understand congestion, near-misses, and how streets are really used, and help them act on it.

Inspired by LADDMS

view.live was inspired by our work on LADDMS (Leveraging Advanced Data to Deliver Multimodal Safety), a project led by the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) in collaboration with Tennessee State University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Vanderbilt University. LADDMS uses privacy-preserving roadside sensing to find and fix safety problems for the most vulnerable road users, pedestrians and cyclists, that traditional crash reports can miss.

    This paper covers 120 uninterrupted days of anonymous monitoring across eight intersections along a two-mile Nashville corridor, with analyses of conflict hot spots between road users, daily turning counts, and pedestrians crossing outside the crosswalk.
